How to use Claude Usage Monitor

Track your Claude limits on the browser you already use, or natively on Windows. All three read your usage through your own Claude login, keep everything on your device, and warn you before you hit a limit. Pick your platform — each takes about a minute to set up.

Chrome extension

A color-coded badge in your Chrome toolbar, updating while you browse. Free, no account.

Install it

  1. Open the Chrome Web Store listing and click Add to Chrome.

  2. Click the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar and pin Claude Usage Monitor so the badge stays visible.

  3. Make sure you're signed in to claude.ai in the same browser — that's the only "login" it needs.

How to use it

The toolbar badge shows your live session percentage, colored by how close you are to the limit. Click it to open the popup with the full picture: your 5-hour session, weekly usage across all models, per-model caps (Fable, Opus, Sonnet and Claude Design when your plan has them), usage credits and daily routine runs — each with its exact reset time. Choose from several layouts and themes in the popup. You'll also get a desktop alert at 80% and again at 95% for any limit, so you hear about it before it lands.

The badge answers "how much have I used?" at zero clicks. Click it for the full popup.

Firefox add-on

The same monitor, the same popup — for Firefox. Free, no account.

Install it

  1. Open the Firefox Add-ons listing and click Add to Firefox, then Add to confirm.

  2. The icon appears in your toolbar. If it's tucked away, open the extensions menu and pin it so the badge shows.

  3. Make sure you're signed in to claude.ai in the same browser.

How to use it

It works exactly like the Chrome version: a color-coded badge shows your live session percentage, and one click opens the popup with your session, weekly and per-model caps, credits and routine runs — each with its reset time, plus layouts and themes. Desktop alerts at 80% and 95% are included here too.

Windows app: UsagePeek AI

A native app that lives in your system tray and polls your usage on its own, so your limits stay current even with every browser closed. It also auto-resumes Claude Code after every reset. Full site: usagepeek.com.

Install it

  1. Open the Microsoft Store listing and click Get. It's a 7-day free trial, then a one-time purchase — no subscription.

  2. It installs in one click and adds itself to your tray. Because the Store build is Microsoft-signed, there's no security warning, and updates arrive automatically.

Sign in once

The first time you open it, the app needs to read your usage from Claude — about ten seconds:

  1. Click the Claude Monitor icon in your system tray (down by the clock).

  2. A Claude window opens — sign in the way you always do, with Google or email.

  3. The window closes on its own, and the tray icon starts showing your live session percentage.

This sign-in only reads your usage. Your session is stored encrypted in the Windows Credential Manager and never leaves your machine. There's no separate account to create.

What you'll see

The tray icon shows your session percentage, colored by how close you are to the limit:

Don't see the icon? Windows hides tray icons by default. Turn it on in Settings → Personalization → Taskbar → Other system tray icons, and switch Claude Monitor to On so it sits next to the clock.

Click the icon for the full popup: your session (5-hour) window, weekly usage across all models, per-model caps (Fable, Opus, Sonnet, Claude Design), usage credits and daily routine runs, each with its exact reset time. Make it yours with 4 layouts, 6 themes, a floating always-on-top widget you can park anywhere, and global keyboard shortcuts.

Usage alerts

Get a heads-up before you hit a limit. The app sends a Windows notification the first time any limit crosses a threshold — a warning at 80% and a critical alert at 95% — covering your session, weekly window and every per-model cap. It fires once per threshold per window (never a stream), then re-arms when the window resets. Both thresholds are configurable in Settings, and you can turn alerts off entirely.

Enable Windows notifications. For alerts to reach you, make sure notifications are on for the app in Settings → System → Notifications — both the master toggle and the Claude Monitor entry.
Desktop alerts at 80% and 95%, per model — configurable, or off. At parity with the browser extensions.

Auto-resume Claude Code

The standout feature. Queue up your projects and, the moment your 5-hour window resets, the app relaunches Claude Code for each one — so a fresh window never goes to waste while you sleep. This part assumes you already use Claude Code.

Requirement: the Claude Code CLI. Auto-resume launches the claude command, so you need Claude Code installed first — follow the official Claude Code install guide.
Claude Code has its own login, separate from this app. The first time you run claude in a folder, it asks you to sign in with your Anthropic account and to trust the folder. Accept that once per project. The app never bypasses these prompts — it just relaunches the Claude Code you've already set up.

Open Claude Code manually (once)

Before queuing a project, make sure it runs on its own: open a terminal (Windows Terminal or PowerShell) in the project folder and type claude. Complete the sign-in and folder-trust prompts if they appear. Once it launches cleanly, it's ready to queue.

Build the queue

  1. Open Settings → Resume queue.

  2. Click + Add project and choose the folder you launch Claude Code from.

  3. Pick a specific session to resume, or leave it on Most recent.

  4. Enable the entries you want. When the limit resets, each enabled project opens in its own terminal, in order.

Settings → Resume queue. Each enabled project relaunches claude --resume in its own terminal the moment your window resets.

Good to know

It's private, everywhere

No accounts, no servers of ours, no telemetry. Every version reads your usage through your existing Claude login and keeps the data on your device — the extensions in your browser's local storage, the Windows app in the Windows Credential Manager.

What you need

A Claude.ai account, and either desktop Chrome/Firefox or Windows 10/11. Auto-resume additionally needs the Claude Code CLI. WebView2 is built into Windows 11.
